Letchworth State Park in New York is roughly 17 miles (27 km) long, following the course of the Genesee River as it flows north through a deep gorge and over several large waterfalls. In 2015, Letchworth State Park won USA Today's Reader's Choice competition as the best state park in the United States.[9] In 2020 the park topped a similar list.
The Lower Falls is the smallest of the falls. The Upper Falls has a railroad trestle just upstream. In 2015, when this photo was taken, the trestle was rather rickety- looking. It was replaced with an arch bridge in 2022. The best view of the falls and the Genesee River as it flows through the park is from Inspiration Point.
